Last year we did a class (“How to Use Fusion 360 and Inventor for Effective Designs”) where we linked Fusion 360 files with Inventor using Desktop Connector. The most requested addition to that was to link those files into Vault software, so this year we’ll go through some of the different configurations for how we can load and manage these Fusion 360 files in Vault. Some of the things we will look at include creating the connection and adding the files, as well as managing the files; and we’ll also discuss version and revisions of the files in Vault.

We will cover several aspects of release management, including how to build the right lifecycle workflow and how to incorporate Vault engineering change order (ECO) capabilities into your process. This class will be an overview of Vault products, and what they can do for your company. We will talk about the features of the different products, and help you figure out the right questions to ask when deciding if Vault is right for you.

This class will look at properties in Vault Professional data management software, both system and user defined. We'll explore where to access them, how to create mappings to your CAD files, and how to use that information in Vault software or on your CAD files themselves. I will use examples from my own Vault setup to show the power of property data and how to use it. Examples will include property mapping to both files and items. Come to this class to start thinking about how these might help you in your Vault setup.

In this class, a CIO of a leading ship-building company from India shall be jointly presenting with a partner a case study of their custom implementation of Vault software as a business process automation platform to synchronize their design and business workflows to their Enterprise Business systems—Infor ERP. The class will explore how various departments of a ship-manufacturing organization works around the design data that flows between various users and integrates critical items and BOM with their ERP system and automates several business workflows customized on Vault interface. The presenter will explain how they could save close to 20% of their design-to-manufacturing cycle time by streamlining Vault product data management (PDM) software to remove redundant work on ERP while enabling a collaborative and automated business environment. This class will explore the extent to which Vault can be customized beyond its basic features, and throw light on integration of BOM and related data to ERP or other applications.

Do you find yourself fighting with large or very large assembly files? This class builds on the speaker’s previous Autodesk University classes (“CADZilla” and “CADZilla Jr.”), and we’ll cover best practices for opening and closing large assemblies, related drawings, and tips and tricks on settings and processes that will make you victorious over these monster files. There’s been such interest in this class and subject matter that the speaker wanted to offer it yet again with the updates provided by the 2020 release, as well as giving those who couldn’t make the previous classes a chance to attend this one.

Copy Design is one of the most powerful features in Autodesk Vault. Engineers are leveraging existing designs in one way or another, either by reusing the design completely to eliminate design time, or by copying an existing design or updating the design which will take less time. Less time is less cost. Moreover, apart from the reduced modeling time, design reuse will further have its impact in the form of cost and time savings in the downstream engineering, manufacturing, and purchasing. The Copy Design feature in Autodesk Vault 2020 has many enhancements which help engineers do more faster with existing designs. This class will discuss the enhancements to Copy Design and illustrate how to use Copy Design to be more productive.

If looking to improve the general health of your Vault SQL Server implementation, improve performance, or automate backups, this course is for you. It’s geared towards Vault administrators looking to improve maintenance in their SQL Server environments using SQL Server Maintenance Plans. As maintenance plans are not something that is installed or implemented with out of the box solutions from Autodesk or Microsoft, we will provide a suggested solution for use with SQL Server. We will cover the basics of implementing a SQL Server maintenance plan to keep Autodesk Vault SQL Server Databases running at their most optimum levels, hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and beyond. Users will have a base maintenance plan to get started and will walk away with the knowledge to modify that plan to suit their own unique environments. This session features Vault Professional, Vault Basic, and Vault Workgroup.

Vault data management software isn't just a single program; it's a framework, composed of many pieces like CAD add-in or Vault Explorer (Client) working together. You can customize some of these pieces and not others. This class will discuss the various ways to customize and integrate with Vault, including Vault Data Standard advanced scripting layer and Vault application programming interface. Following samples of standalone applications interacting with Vault, jobs automating repetitive tasks, or event handlers extending workflows, you can get started scripting and coding your own first extensions.
