In this session, we'll share what the AutoCAD Customer Council Beta Program is and how you can become a member. We'll also share how the Alpha/Beta program works and how you can influence the next version of AutoCAD software. We run year-round Alpha and Beta programs. These programs include AutoCAD, the AutoCAD web app, AutoCAD mobile, and all the AutoCAD toolsets. You'll get an early look at new features and be able to share feedback directly with the product teams, product managers, developers, designers, quality engineers, and more. We also have multiple surveys—your feedback helps us better understand your thoughts on new feature ideas as well as on enhancements to existing features. This session will help you understand what our Alpha/Beta program is and how you can become a part of it.

French engineering firm Artelia faced a challenge in generating secondary supports assembly drawings from AutoCAD Plant 3D software. The default AutoCAD Plant 3D settings were time consuming, and the competitor's solution was costly. Autodesk Consulting developed a new AutoCAD Plant 3D plug-in, leading to a 75% time reduction across Artelia projects, potentially saving approximately 208 days in the first year alone. The plug-in offers a variety of features. It automatically generates orientations and position views in a drawing, which streamlines the design process. It includes auto-annotation of views, making documentation more efficient. The addition of a bill of materials (BOM) and a new graphical user interface further improves user friendliness and functionality. The solution currently works with secondary supports and is beneficial for all AutoCAD Plant 3D users who use orthographic drawings. It can potentially be scaled up to include support for all objects and drawings, and for drawings with auto-dimensioning capabilities.

AutoCAD (& verticals) Plant 3D, and Revit all have different workflows with ACC/BIM 360 projects and the Desktop Connector. After many challenging hours I believe I have finally found a way to explain the various ACC/BIM 360 workflows and would like to share this knowledge with everyone else who's also dealing with all these various workflows and collaboration options. Specifically, I'm going to cover working with Revit, Plant 3D, and Civil 3D (same workflows for AutoCAD) with ACC and/or BIM 360 projects. I'll also cover the Desktop Connector 15 and 16 and the differences we've encountered, good and bad.

What are your favorite features in AutoCAD software? These are a few of my favorite things. Over the years of teaching AutoCAD software I've built an extensive list of my favorite features and tips. We'll explore features from the beginning of AutoCAD software up to AutoCAD 2015 software. This session is all about me sharing my love and passion for AutoCAD software with you.

In this class, you will learn about the workflows that are incorporated in Autodesk Plant Design Suite. We will start with P&IDs and go through creating plant design models using all the components within Autodesk Plant Design Suite Ultimate edition. We will cover how to incorporate Autodesk® Inventor® software models into your design. We will also demonstrate the structural workflow in the suite, which incorporates Autodesk® Revit® Structure and AutoCAD® Structural Detailing software. You will also learn how AutoCAD® P&ID and AutoCAD® Plant 3D software work together.

In this class, you will learn to create custom content for both Autodesk® P&ID and Autodesk Plant 3D software. We will focus on using tools such as legacy AutoCAD® data, previously created AutoCAD 3D solids, and Autodesk® Inventor® to create the content. You will learn to create and modify custom symbols. We will also show you how to create and maintain project templates that contain custom content as well as how to copy custom content from one project to another.

In this class, we will present a general overview of the tools and features of AutoCAD Structural Detailing software as they can be applied to process and power piping design. You will learn about the workflow in AutoCAD Structural Detailing and how to add and remove profiles from the working set of profiles. Finally, you will learn how to generate a structure model and detail drawings.

Learn how to improve productivity through the development of key concepts and efficient workflows to successfully execute an intelligent plant project with Plant Design Suite. You will learn how to streamline P&ID design, 3D modeling, orthographic and isometric drawing production, project reports, and construction document generation. This class will show you how to utilize the built-in intelligence capabilities and efficiently extract project data. We will cover how to use and customize the intrinsic intelligence capabilities of tags and annotations to simplify project data management. You will also learn how to integrate data from third-party applications into Plant Design Suite projects. We will demonstrate how Plant Design Suite can coordinate across disciplines in order to develop intelligent project drawings and 3D models, including significant pumping, piping, structural, and instrumentation and control elements (for example, set points and alarms).

In this class, we will present multiple case studies on how petroleum refineries have implemented AutoCAD P&ID software as part of environmental compliance projects to achieve a reduction in actual and reported VOC and HAP emissions. We will cover a stepwise workflow process for owner-operators and engineering, procurement, and construction firms to follow, engaging various plant disciplines, including CAD, engineering, and environmental and safety, that are favorably affected by this workflow. Specifically, the case study will share a process for using data-driven drawings to achieve improved compliance with environmental and safety regulations. We will also supply you with the questions to ask at your plant, as well as the tools to begin driving your operating plants towards environmental and safety excellence (and reduced emissions).

In this class, we’ll discuss how to manipulate settings and options to improve speed. We’ll discuss how to set up drawings using Xrefs and utilizing paper space and model space. We’ll also look at how layer commands and object display settings can reduce clutter in your drawings to make it easier to manipulate drawing components. This class will help you become more familiar with some of the options in AutoCAD, and help you take that next step in your career using the many tools AutoCAD has to offer.

Have you ever wondered if there's an easier way to ensure that all drawing production staff has equal access to the company's CAD standards? This class will provide an overview of a variety of configuration, productivity, and management solutions that you can deploy using AutoCAD tool palettes. Tool palettes should not be limited to sourcing warehoused block/symbol libraries; they can also facilitate company-specific CAD software configurations, along with a multitude of other tools, to assist CAD managers with the elimination of inconsistencies across workstations, projects, and even offices. Tool palettes can easily become the "one-stop shop" for sourcing preconfigured, controlled content and the mechanism to assist users with configuring their AutoCAD (and AutoCAD software-based) software installations. Last year (Autodesk University 2017) we presented this class; this year we will focus on additional demonstration of the corporate tool palette sets we have deployed across our company over the past 6 years.

Between 2012 and 2013, Autodesk Brazil developed content for Petrobras, which is one of the most well-known oil companies in the world. In Brazil, it is responsible for a large portion of exploration and production and almost all of the refining activities, creating and impacting directly a huge ecosystem of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects; equipment manufacturers; and construction companies. In this class, we go through the process of creating a new P&ID library and the 3D specs for this specific ecosystem. We discuss best practices and share lessons we learned. A Petrobras representative will be present to describe how Plant Design Suite fits into their business.

In this class you will learn some useful steps to customize content to use in your AutoCAD P&ID software projects. We will lead you through accessing the project setup and understanding what you can edit. We will particularly focus on accessing engineering items. This will involve creating custom equipment, inline assets, instrumentation, and lines. In addition you will learn how to create unique tagging and custom off-page connectors.
