Autodesk Data Exchange is a new service that facilitates interoperability between Autodesk and non-Autodesk products, helping you to unlock your data and share the right data with the right stakeholders at the right time. The powerful API allows you to access the granular data in exchanges and integrate the Autodesk Data Exchange service into your pipeline and use it as a data exchange stack. In this class, we will briefly look at the client-side workflow of Autodesk Data Exchange, and then we'll look at the tools made available to developers to help them tap into that workflow. The tools made available by the Autodesk Data Exchange team vary based on complexity, allowing you to either just access the granular data in exchanges, or go beyond that and build your own connectors that will allow custom workflows to read and write data into exchange context.

This not only eliminates the need for time-consuming manual data re-entry, but it also reduces the risk of errors, facilitating a more streamlined and accurate design and construction process. The use of Autodesk Data Exchange represents a significant step forward in building information modeling (BIM) collaboration, fostering more-integrated and -coordinated workflows between architects, engineers, and contractors.

Our team created a digital twin of retail store located in the shopping mall complex using Autodesk Tandem software–reducing missed inspection time by 90% By combining laser scanning, intelligent modeling, and asset element and IoT sensor data in Tandem extended through our mobile app, we empower plant management to monitor assets and make more-informed business decisions. Dawood integrated our native mobile application—built with Flutter, Supabase, and BuildShip—to record equipment inspections. Elements are tagged with QR codes, enabling rapid information access. This allows for data exchange between the mobile app and digital twin using the Tandem API—making it the single source of truth. This allows on-site engineers to access information on the go to complete daily inspections and send inspection data to the digital twin so that management can assess and respond to events in real time. Automated reminders reduce incidents.

openBIM workflows enable interoperability and collaboration among different software applications and stakeholders in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry using neutral, industry-standard formats. These workflows center around Industry Foundation Classes (IFC), an open and neutral data format for building information modeling (BIM), but they also include other formats and technologies such as BCF (BIM collaboration format), bSDD (buildingSMART Data Dictionary), and IDS. In this session, you'll learn about the Autodesk strategy around IFC and openBIM, the current and future capabilities of Revit, and other Autodesk AEC products to support openBIM workflows. Using open source tools and open formats, CIMIC is federating their largest 3D architectural models, directly from ACC and into the Unity game engine. They show record loading times and record rendering speeds with the largest of federated scenes, while keeping ACC versioning, filtering and coloring, of single elements. This case study compares different pipelines that were explored before choosing the final result. Topics include ArcGIS Maps SDK for Unity, IFC, I3S, OBJ, USD, FBX, 3D-Tiles and glTF. The introduction of Autodesk Construction Cloud as a project platform for engineering companies has often been the subject of presentations. We at DB Engineering & Consulting—the international engineering and consulting company of Deutsche Bahn—have a special challenge: We've been using Vault software for 10 years with about 2,500 users. With this high standard in CAD data management, a migration to Autodesk Construction Cloud is particularly challenging but necessary, due to the increasing percentage of building information modeling (BIM) methodology being used in our projects. In our session, we will outline how we plan to migrate from Vault to Autodesk Construction Cloud in two stages: First, we'll use Autodesk Construction Cloud for Revit modeling while CAD drawings remain in Vault. During the second stage, we'll also transfer the CAD part to Autodesk Construction Cloud. We'll share our solutions to address Autodesk Construction Cloud drawbacks for draftspersons, ensuring even Vault experts can adapt.
