This session will present the many changes we've made to our Vault and Inventor systems in order to accommodate the different requirements of a product-based design and manufacturing environment as opposed to a project-based one. Making this change has seen a reduction in the engineering support the manufacturing team requires, which in turn allows the engineering team to come up with new ideas for more products. Increased reuse of assemblies and reconfiguration of systems have led to new opportunities for sales while building on the established experience base. The ways in which we have moved to simplify procedures, reuse models, manage our data, and track OEM use are definitely scalable both up and down, therefore allowing everyone to take advantage of the changes we've made. This was a long process for us, and we'd like to share our experience and potentially help you prevent some of the headaches we encountered along the way.

This hands-on lab will introduce engineers and designers to the world of using CAM to program computer numerical control (CNC) machines and its connection to the design process. Through a series of guided exercises in Autodesk Fusion CAM, you'll gain practical experience in setting up stock material and coordinate systems, choosing tools, defining machining operations (including machining boundaries), simulating the toolpaths, and generating G-code for a CNC milling machine. It all began with a simple Dynamo script displaying a popup window to users with some useful information about the document. As the script development advanced, we transitioned to a Revit macro. The tool grew and even more features were added to assist users in managing their model's quality. Eventually, our team reached a point where the macro wasn't practical enough. That's when we created an installable C# add-in, turning the former model health check into a comprehensive wizard with an Autosolve function. Now, many common errors are automatically resolved when Revit starts or syncs, leaving only more complex issues for users to review. Dedicated windows within the tool have been designed to help users evaluate logical errors, such as area analysis. The wizards toolkit is complemented by a robust automatic classification function. This course guides you through our development journey, unveiling the wizard button's magical potential and the insights gained along the way.

The Autodesk Factory Experience at AU is where attendees get a hands-on experience of the concept-to-production process using Autodesk Fusion software.
